Wellness & Preventative Care
When we are able to examine your pet at least once a year, we are able to take the appropriate measures to prevent illness and disease, thereby keeping your companion happier and healthier. We do this by administering vaccinations and using preventives to protect your pet against parasites. We also monitor your pet’s weight and nutrition to make sure he or she is on the path of optimum health, both presently and on an ongoing basis.
Wellness visits also allow our doctors to detect the existence of health concerns right away so they can be treated in the most timely and effective manner. Detecting disease in its earliest stages can vastly improve the chances of a positive outcome for your pet. It’s also much less expensive to manage early onset of illness than it is to treat it once it’s progressed.
So, why wellness care? Simple. Because prevention and early detection can add years to your pet’s life.
At Boston Veterinary, dentistry is our specialty. We offer complete pet dentistry services, including routine preventative care as well as advanced treatment for existing oral health problems.
Good dental health is a vital part of your companion's overall physical and mental health. When we humans have pain and inflammation from undiagnosed dental disease, our health and mood all suffer. The same thing happens to your companion. Some of the signs that your pet may be suffering from a dental problem include:
- Bad breath
- Excessive drooling
- Yellow, missing or broken teeth
- Red, inflamed or bleeding gums
- Pain when touched near the mouth
- Difficulty chewing food or toys
- Change in eating habits
- Rubbing or pawing at the face
- Unexplained weight loss
Schedule an appointment for a dental assessment with your veterinarian today if you suspect dental disease is present.

Acupuncture & Therapeutic Laser Treatments
Integrative veterinary medicine offers patients a multidisciplinary approach to restoring health, preventing disease, and improving quality of life.
Boston Veterinary Clinic recommends two non-invasive therapies for the treatment of multiple chronic conditions like , acute conditions like and post-surgical pain and inflammation.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a therapy that invokes neuromodulation and mechanotransduction of impulses throughout connective tissue. It enhances blood circulation, stimulation of nerves, decreases inflammation and provides pain relief. Needles are inserted in specific acupuncture points (where nerves and blood vessels join together).
Acupuncture is a powerful, non-invasive tool for the treatment of many conditions such as osteoarthritis, back/disc pain, and nerve inflammation and can be used with other pain management therapies such as pharmaceuticals and laser therapy to provide pain relief.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a sterile, pain-free, non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical therapy to treat pain and inflammation. The therapy laser system sends photons, or packets of light energy, deep into tissue without damage to the cells. These photons are absorbed within the cell’s mitochondria and induces a chemical change called “photo-bio-modulation”. ATP production is increased, as a result. ATP is the fuel and energy responsible for cellular rejeneration and repair leading to healthier cells and tissue
